Day 15: Two Countries in One Day and Some Bumps in the Road

Hi y'all!  Hope you're doing marvelously.

Today, we were all up by 6:30am, lovely.  We finished up our little last items to pack up and grabbed some breakfast and were on our way.  We found our way to the airport with minimal issues, then returned our rental car.  *teardrop* It looked like an over sized brownie.  I'll miss it dearly.  Any-who, we were directed where to go to get to our terminal and found it easily.  We did see some extravagant  characters in the airport, there happened to be a heavy metal music festival going on close by, so we got to see spiked helmets and really tall boots.  T'was entertaining.  We sat for a bit, reading, or doing whatever until about 12:00, our flight was supposed to board at around 12:30.  We then went through security where my mom and I went through with no problems and, naturally, the other half of our group was stuck with their electronic whos-its and whats-its.  DAD.  TONY.  STOP.  So my mom and I decided to go wait in the terminal for the boys.  "Last call" the sign above our heads flashes.  Nervous glance to the right.  Nervous glance to the left.  No Dad, no Tony.  We wait.  "Final boarding" We glance left.  We glance right.  We see a rapid bobbing of a Tony head in the distance, and finally board safely.  *wipes brow*

After a surprisingly smooth (Our plane was tiny so we expected more turbulence) hour and a half flight, we see a ridge of land jutting out over the water.  "Holllaaaannndddd," Tony whispers to a half asleep me who wakes up and hits head.  The plane lands and we excitedly hop off and, my first step into the Amsterdam airport aaaaaand.... trip.  Nobody saw.  I'm good.  We right away noticed that the airport was so much nicer than the tiny English one that we departed from.  Very fancy.  We waited for about 15 minutes after getting our luggage for a nice lady who showed us to our car, (which we called ahead of time to take us to our apartment) it was a short, 15 minute or so car ride to our cute, old fashioned looking apartment-front.  The guy who showed us around the apartment was David.  He took a few minutes to show us all of the commodities we'd need during our stay.  He then walked us to the grocery store down the street where we loaded our baskets with groceries and got to the check out aaaaaaand..... they don't take American credit cards.  We also had not cashed our English money in yet for Euros.  Cool.  So we took all of our things back while my dad ran down to an ATM to get money.  That actually did work.  Good.  We then took our food back to the apartment and were starved so we had some dinner.  Then, my brother came down from his room and told us that there were ants everywhere.  Oh no.  So my dad called the land lord and so far, no reply.  Luckily, we do have a fold out bed.  Later, my dad, Tony, and I all went for a walk in Vondel park and checked it out, very pretty.  Now, everyone is just hanging about admiring our cute apartment.  It's three floors with very steep, small staircases, but it's actually just what I want mine to look like someday, very modern and stylish.  I think we'll all head off to bed soon since we're pretty dead from the flying and everything.

Hope you enjoyed our endeavors of the day.
