Day 5: A Look into the Historical Significance of London

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope you are having a lovely Friday.

Today we had a busy day filled with knowledge, fun, and a chai tea latte.  Tony, being the most enthusiastic about going back to the British Museum headed out before the rest of us to get a couple of hours in before our tours for the day.  The rest of us took our time and got ready for the day.  My parents and I took the tube over to the Medieval War Fortress, The London Tower, where my mom and I grabbed lattes and my dad found a beer that we enjoyed while waiting for Tony to arrive.  Granted, there was a drink explosion, but mostly, the refreshments were great.

We then went about our way, getting a bad-joke filled description of the 1600s' beheading, war tactics, superstitions, and legends. We ended our tour in a chapel and then continued on our own to view various sparkly who's it's and what's it's galore that were owned by various royal someones from hundreds and hundreds of years ago.  In short, very glittery, very wow.  Next, we entered the building with weapons of war, now I know this doesn't sound like my thing, but it was really well done and neat!  They showed off the different variations of suits of armor from throughout the centuries of wars, the different use of certain weapons, and there were a lot more weapons shown that, truthfully, I cannot remember the names of for my  life.  After our exploration, we parked on a bench and enjoyed a picnic lunch.

Next, we wandered over to the Churchill War Room exhibit to check out the bunker used by Winston Churchill during the WWII effort.  This consisted of all of the different rooms used during the bombings.  They were a very sarcastic people apparently though, the men in the bunkers, because when the bombings were going on, the weather report sign they had up always said, "windy," which was WWII slang for "scared."  How dare they.  But the information given to us at this tour was great.  After leaving the little bunker, we headed back to our home for the week and I was out, everyone else read or went on laptop/tablets.  Right now, I'm video chatting with a friend while typing this up and laughing at the drunk people wandering around yelling about "SALTED DUCK" and "FAKE FRIENDS RIGHT??"

Well I hope you all are still enjoying the blog!  Also, if you haven't noticed, I did add some pictures to the blog posts from the beginning of the trip
