Day 4: Walking tour and Rock and Roll

Hey everybody!  Hope you're doing just fine.

Today was the day where we're kind of acquainted with London but not really on a first name basis, ya know?  We know what stops to get off at on the tube but we don't know how to cross the street, sort of backwards but you've met us, we don't always know what's going on.

We slept in a bit this morning and had some breakfast before leaving our apartment.  We then went to a somewhat common and popular coffee shop called "Cafe Nero" which for the majority of this trip, I thought said "Cafe Nerd."  Oops.  We grabbed some coffees and went on our way to join the walking tour.  We met our guide, a lively British fellow called Paul.  He led us to the changing of the horse guards by the castle.  We then marched alongside the foot guards (no, not next to them, there was a barricade.) until we reached the front of Buckingham Palace.  I'm going to take a guess and say that maybe The Queen was sitting on her sofa watching the cooking channel and eating some Cheerios laughing at the huzzah caused by her protection.  After, we trudged back with the rest of the Hawaiian-printed tourists, and we left to enjoy a little picnic lunch.

Next we headed back to the tour company and joined a new walking tour that would lead us to places significant to British Rock Legends.  We had Paul again and again enjoyed his awesomeness.  We got to see the nightclubs, bars, recording studios, and manager's apartments of Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Who, and who knows who else.  We learned that Ozzy Osborne had a manager who was a thug and once dangled a man out of a window.  He was also the father of Sharon Osborne.  Sounds like a cool dude.  As we were being led to these places, we found our way to Soho, London where there were gorgeous storefronts on gorgeous streets that displayed $20000 suits that could also be bought at Kohls but I mean, must be a great sense of accomplishment right?  *facepalms*  Not all of the stores in Soho were so ridiculously extravagant though, and we are hoping to return.  We ended our tour and found the way to Piccadilly Circus (say that out loud please, dear reader, it's worth it.  PICCADILLY.) where I found myself a wonderful smoothie.

We then headed to the tube and found our way to Trafalgar Square where we looked around for a bit in the art museum.  We're hoping to return at some point to get to view the Van Gough and Monet displays. *fans myself excitedly*  My dad and Tony with the fancy cars here are pretty much the equivalent to my mom and I in Soho.  He's currently shouting names at me, hang on.  "Lamborghini, Austin Martin, Rolls Royce, MG, Lotus, Tesla, Alfa Romeo."  He's now calling Tony to get another name.  I"m just now realizing, on this trip,  how little I understand the excitement in cars. "Brabus, and Bently," he just said looking over excitedly.  I wonder if those names excite you.  I hope you are absolutely amazed.  After taking the tube home, we found our door would not comply with our requests of it opening and called our landlady to open it which she did, of course do....... after 15-20 minutes of waiting.  We are now each doing our own chosen relaxing activities.  Not sure yet where the rest of the night will take us but if anything, I will make sure to catch you all up.

Sidenote: So sorry about the lack of photos so far!  I just figured out the transferring-from-camera-to-computer process and am discovering the uploading-to-blog process.  So I HOPE I can get some up tonight.

I hope you all are enjoying these little (extremely sarcastic) blog posts!
