Today was our first full day in London. My dad and Tony left early this morning to scout out a wifi-producing coffee shop or two and my mom and I slept in. Or so we'd hoped. At around 7:30am, a shrieking beep was going off around our building and so we ducked and covered (groggily walked down the 6 flights of stairs) to find that there was not, in fact, a fire attached to the alarm that so rudely woke us up. But on to the problem immediately at hand, my dear mother and I were locked out of our room standing in our oh-so-stylish pajamas with our only key held by a man in who-knows-what part of town. We did however, meet a very nice Lebanese man who had the same rude awakening as we did and my dad and Tony did eventually come to our rescue.
Later after getting ready for the day, we left on our way for a walk around and then got on our bus tour (yes, in one of those super cute red Double-Decker buses) we had a nice look around all of the famous places in London including; Big Ben, the Queen's Palace, Tower Bridge, the London eye, and a few more. It was quite nice. We then had food on our mind and wandered into a little pub. The food was great and the customer service was awesome. Next, we found our way into the British museum where Tony had a field day, showing off his AP World History-knowledge. We found a few interesting artifacts including A DEAD GUY IN A BOX. Not cool museum people. I am not here to see crystallized human beings. I am here to look at sculptures of chickens with human heads. (which they certainly did have.) We were informed that the museum will be closing "in 5 minutes", but, we were determined and actually got to see the original Rosetta Stone! It was pretty cool. We then left as the museum closed and made our way back to The Tube, and were packed in pretty tightly, I never thought I'd say this, but I can closely relate with sardines. The tube took us back to our street and we grabbed a few groceries and were off! We grabbed some coffee on the way home to make us feel a little more human. Then, we took off down our street and into our apartment where we all set off doing our own thing, my dad doing something or other on his laptop, my mom taking a nap, Tony doing who knows what, and me Facetimeing with some friends. Now, everyone is up and relaxing, I'm sitting in my cute little bedroom typing this and I have my window open to the balcony, which has a wonderful view of the city lights. I'll hopefully be uploading the pictures from today in a bit.
Hope you're all enjoying the blog!
