Day 20: Flea-market and High Tea

Hey there!  Sorry I didn't post this yesterday, but we were all exhausted.

Here's yesterday's shenanigans:

Today, we all woke up around 8ish to get ready for company coming over around 10:30 for coffee.  We would be having over my mom's aunt and uncle, Machteld and Albin, and her other aunt, Hanukkah.  They came over and we gave them the tour and had some coffee before they left to go check out the Rijksmuesum.

My parent's, Tony, and I all headed out after that to go to the flea-market that was down the street.  It had everything from vegetables and fruit to knock-offs of Beats brand headphones.  It was quite entertaining.  We all tried some of the fresh lumpia (One of our favorite Filipino dishes), my dad and I tried the oh-so-famous herring (a small fish that is served uncooked with onion and pickles) which actually was good!  I didn't expect to like it but I mean if there is a strange, foreign dish to be tried, I'm here for it!  After the flea-market, we headed back to the apartment to get dressed and ready for the reunion we would be hosting, a high tea!

We took the tram to the restaurant that was holding the high tea event, the "Bakkerswinkel".  Which was equipped with adorable mis-matched tea sets and a huge selection of cakes, scones, and different toppings.  It was very cute.  My dad and I headed downstairs to be the welcoming committee for the twenty-six family members we would be hosting, while my mom, Tony, and Grootje waited upstairs.  First an Uncle and his three little ones and his wife, then an aunt or four and then another uncle or cousin, until our little upstairs loft was filled.  We all greeted, and questioned, and smiled for a bit and then sat down and dug into the feast of desserts.  It also happened to be our cousin, Jasper's, birthday, so we all sang to him and so did his sister and her family, all the way from Australia!  It was a great turn out.  At the end of the tea, we all headed out and took a walk through the park next to the Bakkerswinkel.  We saw quite a few baby ducks and it was the cutest thing, I may or may not have squealed on multiple occasions.  We all discussed various topics and at certain points, someone trailed off to go to their car with a plethora of hugs involved.  After everyone left to go to their cars, we invited our cousin, Jasper, back to our apartment to hang out.

We all took the tram back to the apartment and chatted for a few hours.  It was great to catch up with him, it's been a few years!  When Jasper had go go home, we were all pretty sleepy, so we all went to bed.  It was a full day of reunions, it was great.   Most of the photos from today were taken by relatives, so when those are sent to us, I will be sure to post them.

Hope you enjoyed,

-Sophia :)

Update: These are only a couple of the pictures, I'll add the others later.
Looks good right?
